Principals
Colby Anderson and Bruce Doig formed the partnership of Anderson & Doig Structural Engineers in 1982 and have been in active practice in California since inception. Troy Schmidt joined the firm in 2007 and became a principal in 2014. Bruce Doig and Troy Schmidt are licensed structural engineers and the managing principals of the firm. Bruce Doig has a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of California - Berkeley. Troy Schmidt has a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Together the principals of Anderson & Doig have more than 50 years of structural engineering experience.

Experience also includes peer review of structural design documents for code compliance and many years of experience as structural project manager establishing fundamental structural systems, design criteria, and selecting and optimizing structural systems

Troy has extensive experience in the structural analysis and design of wood, steel, masonry and concrete structures. He is proficient with the latest computer software for 3D static and dynamic analysis as well as 3D building information modeling with Revit. Troy delivers innovative, cost effective solutions to meet the aesthetic and functional demands of the building for the client. His recent experience has focused on K-12 public schools and healthcare facilities, but he has a broad range of experience outside of DSA and OSHPD, including commercial, retail, mixed use, recreational centers, senior housing, private colleges and residential projects. Troy is also experienced in structural rehabilitation, seismic retrofit and forensic engineering. Past projects have utilized design-build, design-bid-build and integrated project delivery methods.
